If I’m one thing, it is a commercial or advertisement nerd. Ask Jason. I will laugh, critique, proofread, comment, cry, whatever it may be at the commercials I find most appealing, and most dreadful. Case in point. My favorite commercial of the last few years:
But, the recent “Then and Now” Chevy campaign has really caught my eye. Tom Moradpour, a marketing strategist wrote a great blog post about its ability to connect to a generation: Advertising At The Speed of Culture.
To add on to his commentary, I feel it is successful because it tapped into something everyone feels — nostalgia. Longing for the “old days,” “home,” or “family,” are on everyone’s minds, especially when it comes to those warm memories of things that made our lives special.
Finding that one theme that can connect everybody is the holy grail in advertising or marketing, and it’s really fun to see those brands that get it right.
